  • What does EPDM stand for? Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer.
  • How thick is the membrane? It is available in two thicknesses 1.2mm and 1.52mm
  • Do I need to use Russ Tape? Yes the manufacturer would recommend for this to be installed on any up-stands and around the whole perimeter of your roof should it be over 100sqm.
  • Is there a right or wrong way to stick down my membrane? No! One side may have a little bit of manufactures writing on it, so if you do not want this on show stick this side down.
  • Can I install the EPDM in the winter? Yes! Providing it is dry and the temperature is four degrees and rising.
  • Is there a guarantee? We provide a 20 year membrane warranty for work done by our approved installers. If you are going to give it a go yourself not to worry the membrane still has a 50 year life expectancy. 
  • Can I walk on my EPDM roof? Yes, it can be used for light maintenance and light foot traffic. If it was going to be used for regular foot traffic we would recommend to use some of our balcony tiles.
  • Is Classicbond EPDM BBA certified? Yes, it holds the coveted BBA certificate no. 92/2791.
  • Is Classicbond EPDM fire rated? Yes, the 1.2mm is AB rated and 1.52mm is AA rated.
  • What substrates are suitable for Classicbond? Compatible surfaces are wood, PIR and PUR insulation, concrete, masonry, aluminium, zinc and lead. 
  • Can I overboard my existing roof? Classicbond can overlay virtually any existing flat roof substrate providing that the boards underneath are sound and the existing structure can carry the load of a new roofing system. 
  • What does Classicbond EPDM look like? It is only available in one colour and has a natural slate grey finish. Images can be found on our website.
  • Can EPDM be joined? Yes! Classicbond is very easily joined with either a 3" tape or 6" cover-tape. Please take a look at our training videos to see how this is done. 
  • Do I need any special tools to install my Classicbond roof? No! We have put together a really useful kit for all of the tools you would need when installing an EPDM roof.
